    I used WMM for editing videos from my friend. I have thought that MP4 should be compatible with WMM since it is much common. But the result turns to be incorrect. Anyway, thank you for your post. I can edit my MP4 vidos in WMM without any issue now.

    Generally MP4 can be supported in Windows Movie Maker, but when I import MP4 to Windows Movie Maker, the program can't recognize it. As you mentioned, probably due to video codec contained in MP4. I've used the tool Brorsoft video converter to change my MP4 to WMV. It result video can be imported to Windows Movie Maker smoothly.
